Stay in beautiful Antigua
Accommodations will be in a small hotel near the central square of Antigua. Enjoy sightseeing in this beautiful colonial town with its 16th century ruins, museums, and vistas of surrounding volcanoes. Land of 'eternal spring', the weather is perfect in February with blue skies, warm days, and cool nights.
Visit Safe Passage
Spend two days at Safe Passage in Guatemala City. See the garbage dump and neighborhoods where children live, tour programs, and lend a hand in delivering services to kids and their parents, whether it be filling food bags or tutoring a child. Those sponsoring child will have opportunity to spend time with their child. Saturday outing with group of children is also possible.
Optional Excursions
Two overnight excursions are easily arranged for an additional cost.
1. Visit ancient Mayan ruins at Tikal National Park where you will take a guided tour through the largest excavated site in the American continents.
2. Travel to beautiful Lake Atitlan and travel by boat to Mayan villages that surround this famous volcanic lake. Relax at unique inn on the water.
Reservations are now being taken for this life-changing trip. To assist you in your planning, below are estimated costs, which will vary depending on your preferences.
Airfare: Two tickets provided to the contest winner by 11 Oaks.
Support Team Lodging, Food and Transportation:
Safe Passage will make arrangements for 7 nights lodging, breakfast and dinner each day, ground transportation, and an SP guide during our stay in Antigua. Estimated cost: $600 (does not include lunches, alcoholic beverages, shopping, or optional excursions or recreational activities).
Excursions:
Tikal--Round trip air travel from Guatemala City to Flores and shuttle to National Park with tour and overnight at Jungle Inn. Estimated cost: $450
Lake Atitlan- Round trip ground transport to Panajachel, boat tour, overnight at Casa del Mundo, perched on secluded clif with beautiful views, steps to the water. Estimated cost:$100 (does not include meals, or shopping).
